Did we have Cell Phones back in the 70′s and 80′s…..Heck no!
We did have mobile phones though……mobile in the sense that your phone could go as far as the cord would allow you. I remember that when I was in High School, we had one phone in our house. This phone was on the wall in the kitchen. To enable people to comfortably talk on this phone, from anywhere in the house, the phone had a cord that was about 1/2 mile long. My Mom’s favorite thing to scream back in those days was “Who the Hell keeps tangling up the damn phone cord???!!!!” Need to find the phone? Go to the wall, grab the cord, and then start following it as it snaked through the house, around furniture, over pets, under doors, and frequently out through open windows until you come to the person holding the phone. If you had told me in High School that 25 years later, virtually every kid in America would have a tiny phone that they could carry in their pocket…anywhere they went….I would have told you that you had been watching too many Sci-Fi movies on TV. What? And these little miracle phones will have no cords???!! What have you been smoking???!!!!!!
