Loverboy

Loverboy was one of my favorite High-School era rock bands. The Canadian group burst onto the US Airwaves in late 1980 and were fixtures on the top-40 Billboard Charts for a good part of the rest of the decade.

Their hits included:

Turn me Loose
The Kid is Hot Tonite
Working for the Weekend
When It’s Over
The Lucky Ones
Queen of the Broken Hearts
Hot Girls in Love
Lovin Every Minute of it
This could be the Night
Heaven in your Eyes
Notorious
Gangs in the Street

And others….

The members of the band during the peak years included:

Mike Reno (Vocals)
Paul Dean (Guitar)
Scott Smith (Bass)
Doug Johnson (Keyboards)
Matt Frenette (Drums)

The Group was extremely popular in it’s native Canada and in 1981, won 6 Juno Awards, the highest awards in the Canadian Music Industry. They later won an additional 3 Juno Awards, bringing their career total to 9 Awards, a record for any group or single individual.

The group continues to tour Canada and the US after 3 decades in the music business.
