THERE WAS NO AMERICAN IDOL!!!
And let me tell you…..life and music were SOOOOOO much better due to NOT having a show like AMERICAN IDOL clogging up one of our 12 Television channels on our DELUXE cable package……
Back in those “Good Old Days”……singers and bands had to actually record music, come out with albums, get their songs on the radio, get people to like those songs enough to buy the albums, and then MAYBE…just MAYBE……that singer or group would be successful.
Like it or not, AMERICAN IDOL is far less about musical talent than it is a popularity contest. Quick!

Some, like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson have been successful, others that did not even win, like Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, and Chris Daughtry have done well…..but most of the WINNERS have faded into oblivion.
Think “The Knack” with “My Sharona” would have won AI? Nope….but their music lives on over 30 years later…
Think Gary Numan and his song “Cars” would have won AI? Nope….but that song still has people humming all these years later….
How about “Bow Wow Wow” with the classic “I want Candy”? Still a classic!

Every day, I jump into my car, I click on the radio or put in a MIX-CD and I thank GOD that AMERICAN IDOL was not around to ruin my generation of music!
