Rick Springfield is a Grammy Award winning Australian singer and actor.
He launched onto the US Music scene in 1981 with the release of the album “Working Class Dog“.
“Working Class Dog” produced the hit single “Jessie’s Girl” which reached #1 on the Billboard Charts.
In 1981 he also started a 3 year stint as Dr. Noah Drake on the Daytime Soap Opera “General Hospital“.
When I was in High School in the early 1980′s, my biggest musical wish was to see Rick Springfield in concert.
I could barely name any of his songs, was indifferent to his music videos which were staples on MTV, but I did know one thing for sure….
EVERY girl in school seemed to be crazy about Rick Springfield.
Translation: Where could you spend 2 hours in close quarters with 15,000 delirious teenage girls?
A Rick Springfield concert!
Unfortunately, my dream never came true and I never got to see the 15,000 teenage gi….I mean Springfield, in concert.
Over the years, I have matured and mellowed and have to admit that I now like Rick Springfield’s music. Admitting this would have resulted in a serious beating while I was still in school……
Over his career, Rick Springfield has placed 17 hits in the Billboard Top-40 Charts.
His hits include:
Jessie’s Girl
Don’t talk to Strangers
Souls
Affair of the Heart
Rock of Life
I’ve done everything for you
Celebrate Youth
Bop till you Drop
Human Touch
Don’t Walk Away
I get Excited
Love is alright Tonight
What Kind of fool am I?
Speak to the Sky
Taxi Dancing
and many others.
“Jessie’s Girl” is his only hit to reach #1 on the US Charts.
Springfield returned to his role on General Hospital from 2005-2008.
He recently appeared on the Showtime series “Californication“.
As of 2010, he can still be found touring the country performing his hits. All those teenage girls from 30 years ago are now well into their 40′s so you know where to go if you are looking to spend 2 hours with thousands of screaming housewives.

article … love the way you write! I am one of those ladies (nearly 40) … and would give anything to see Rick perform live … unfortunately I am on the other side of the ocean! But thanx for the article – bought a smile to my face!
