Irish singer Chris de Burgh had his One-Hit Wonder with the International smash hit “The Lady in Red” which peaked at #3 on the US Billboard Charts in 1987.
The song, written about his wife, reached #1 in 25 different countries around the world.
The song has appeared in numerous Hollywood movies including “Baby Mama”, “American Psycho”, “Dodgeball”, “Working Girl”, and others.
That song was good, though not one of my favorites, but there is another tune of his that I liked even more. It is the song “High on Emotion” which peaked at #44 on the Billboard Charts in 1984. I have always liked this song and was surprised when I found that it never actually made it into the Top-40. Still a great tune!
He had another early 80′s tune, “Don’t pay the Ferryman” which was played on Album Oriented Rock Stations but did not chart into the Billboard Top-40.
Always popular in Ireland and in other parts of the Globe, he continues to record and tour to this day.
