Bow Wow Wow is a New Wave Band best known for its 1982 song “I Want Candy“.
Despite being one of the most recognizable songs from the 80′s, and despite the song being listed on virtually every list of the top One-Hit Wonders of the 80′s……the song never even cracked the Top-40 of the Billboard Charts.
It peaked at #62 on the Billboard Charts in 1982.
The group was comprised of three former members of Adam Ant’s backing band and a young female singer, Annabella Lwin. Annabella sparked a small controversy when it was revealed that she was only 13yrs old when discovered by the band. She was 16yrs old at the time of the “I Want Candy” video.
The band never charted a hit on the Billboard Top-40 charts.
Annabella was ousted from the band in 1983 and the band broke up.
Annabella reformed the group using new backing musicians in 1997 and they have gone on hiatus for extended periods over the subsequent years, however, they continue to occasionally perform under the “Bow Wow Wow” name.
