The Bangles are an American All-Female band that enjoyed great success during the 1980′s.
The group was first formed in Los Angeles in 1980.
The groups first album, “All over the Place” was released in 1984.
During their peak years of the 1980′s, The Bangles were:
Susanna Hoffs – Vocals, Guitar
Vicki Peterson – Vocals, Guitar
Debbi Peterson – Vocals, Drums
Michael Steele – Vocals, Bass
The Bangles have released 5 Studio Albums and 1 Greatest Hits album over the course of their career.
They have charted 8 singles onto the Billboard Top-40 Charts.
Their hits include:
Manic Monday
If She Knew What She Wants
Walk Like An Egyptian
In Your Room
Eternal Flame
Be With You
Hazy Shade of Winter
Walking Down Your Street
Two of their singles, “Walk Like An Egyptian” and “Eternal Flame” have reached #1 on the Billboard Top-40 Charts.
The groups first hit “Manic Monday” was written by Prince.
Friction began to divide the band during the later part of the 80′s. On each album, the lead vocals were usually fairly distributed between the ladies in the band, but the singles that were released usually always were songs in which Susanna Hoffs sang lead. This caused tension with the other band members as Hoffs quickly became the “face” of the band.
The group broke up for 10 years starting in 1989. Susanna Hoffs went off to a solo career and dabbled in acting, Vicki Peterson briefly joined The Go-Go’s.
The group got back together in 1999.
In 2005, Bass Player Michael Steele left the group.
The three remaining ladies continue to occasionally tour the Country.
