Styx is an American Band that was one of the most popular rock groups of the 1970′s and 1980′s.
The Chicago-based group was first formed in 1970.
Their first album, “Styx” was released in 1972.
To date, the group has released 15 Studio Albums along with a number of Live Albums and Greatest Hits Collections.
During the peak years of the late 1970′s to mid 1980′s, Styx was:
Dennis DeYoung – Piano, Keyboards, Vocals
James Young – Guitar, Vocals
Tommy Shaw – Guitar, Vocals
Chuck Panazzo – Bass, Vocals
John Panazzo – Drums, Vocals
To date, the group has charted 16 singles into the Billboard Top-40 Charts.
Their top single has been “Babe” which hit #1 on the Billboard Charts in 1979.

Eight of their singles have cracked the Top-10 on the Billboard Charts.
The band broke up in 1984 as Tommy Shaw and Dennis DeYoung both left to pursue Solo careers.
In 1989, Tommy Shaw joined the new group “Damn Yankees” which also included Ted Nugent and Jack Blades.
From 1989-1995 the group reformed and went on without Shaw. He was replaced by Glen Burtnik.
In 1995, Tommy Shaw returned to the band and the group continued on until 1999 when Dennis DeYoung then left the group.
Dennis DeYoung was replaced by Lawrence Gowan in 1999.
The group has undergone a number of personnel changes in the years since, with only Young and Shaw remaining from the original group.
