Dokken is an American Heavy Metal Band that enjoyed a great deal of success on the Rock Charts during the 1980′s.
In my opinion, they are one of the most underrated Metal Bands of that era.
The Los Angeles-based band was first formed in 1978.
The group originally was called “Airborn” but had to change their name when it was discovered another group was already using that title.
The band found commercial success starting in 1983 with the single “Breaking the Chains” and then with the release of the album “Tooth and Nail” in 1984.
To date, the group has recorded 10 Studio Albums.
During their peak years of the 80′s, Dokken was:
Don Dokken – Vocals
George Lynch – Guitar
Jeff Pilson – Bass
Mick Brown – Drums
During the 80′s, the group toured with the likes of AC/DC, Judas Priest, The Scorpions, and Aerosmith.
Dokken has charted 10 singles onto the Billboard Top-40 Rock Charts over the course of their career.
Their hits have included:
Breaking the Chains
You Just Got Lucky
Into The Fire
Alone Again
The Hunter
In My Dreams
Dream Warriors
Burning Like a Flame
Prisoner
Too High To Fly
The single “Dream Warriors” was recorded for the soundtrack to the film “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors“.
Jeff Pilson appeared as the Bass Player for the fictional band “Steel Dragon” in the Mark Wahlberg film “Rock Star“.
The group broke up in 1988 due to creative differences within the band. They then reformed in 1993 with their original lineup before beginning a series of personnel changes over the years.
Dokken is still together and today now consists of: Don Dokken, Mick Brown, Jon Levin, and Barry Sparks.
Dokken’s current guitarist, Jon Levin, also happens to be Don Dokken’s Attorney.

out of all the big freakin hair bands of the 80′s I liked Dokken the least. probably because I never met any of them.
Phenomenal band in my book, classic and timeless! Look out for an original lineup reunion in the coming years. As impossible as it sounds Lynch commented about it, never say never!
I agree, I always thought Dokken Sucked big time, they had no personality ……they seemed to try too hard at being cool, either your`e Cool or your`e not, and Dokken was not Cool, at all!
