I have a soft spot for bands that produced some great music in their careers, but for whatever reason they have now been pretty much forgotten in our modern musical landscape.
A lot of obscure bands and singers put out some amazing music in the 70′s and 80′s.
I’ll be profiling some of these artists via these flashback posts. Their names might not ring a bell, but hopefully you will remember the music and think back “Hey…I loved that song!”
10CC was one of those bands.
10cc was an English Rock Band that had some minor success here in the US during the 1970′s.
The group consisted of members:
Graham Gouldman
Eric Stewart
Lol Creme
Kevin Godley
They released their first album in 1973.
They scored their first US hit with the hit “I’m not in Love” which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Charts in 1975.
Their next hit was the 1977 hit “The Things we do for Love” which reached #5 on the Billboard Charts.
That same year, another single, “People in Love” would reach #40 on the Billboard Charts for their third and last Top-40 hit in the US.
The group was real successful in the UK and charted 13 songs onto the British Charts over the course of their career.
Founding members Kevin Godley and Lol Creme went on to become successful music video directors and have done videos for artists such as “The Police”, “Duran Duran”, “George Harrison”, and others. They also did some recording as a duo, “Godley and Creme” and had a hit with the 1985 song “Cry” which had a video with heavy airplay on MTV.
The group was active from 1972-1983, and again from 1992-1995 . disbanded.
(I’ve always loved this song)
A new incarnation of 10CC was formed in 1999 with Graham Gouldman as the only original member still with the group.

Don’t forget “Dreadlock Holiday” from the album “Bloody Tourist”. My personal favorite is the album “How Dare You”, sweet pearls of sound.
