Starsky and Hutch ran on ABC from 1975-1979.
The show teamed up two mismatched Southern California Policeman, David Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser), and Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchinson (David Soul). Starsky was a hot-headed transplant from Brooklyn, whereas Hutch was a calmer, more intellectual transplant from Minnesota.
The show took place in a generally unnamed West Coast City, with the actors only referring to the fact that they worked for the “BCPD“. The show was filmed in Los Angeles and San Pedro, Ca.
The show was cancelled after 4 seasons after Paul Michael Glaser left to pursue other acting opportunities.
Equally famous from the series is Starsky’s car, a bright red Ford Gran Torino, one of the most famous vehicles in television series history.
Ford Motor Company actually produced about 1,000 replica Gran Torino’s painted in the Starsky and Hutch paint-scheme in order to capitalize on the popularity of the show.
David Soul was also a singer. He had a #1 hit in 1976 with the song “Don’t Give Up on Us“. He has released five Albums during his career.
David Soul continued on with his career in films and television and now resides in England where he appears in frequent productions in the London Theater.
Paul Michael Glaser has done few acting roles since Starsky and Hutch and has instead concentrated on directing, with a number of films and television projects on his resume.
The series was made into a major film in 2004 with Ben Stiller starring as Starsky, while Owen Wilson played Hutch.
Both Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul had cameos in the film.
The BC stood for Bay City.
They appeared to be a ‘burb of LA since so many LA buses, streets, post offices, etc. clearly indicated they were in LA. 
That makes sense. Wish they had just said LA so they wouldn’t have to confuse Junior Idiots like myself….

I totally agree. I did not like the movie either. They should a movie with the real Starsky and Hutch.
