For those of you that think I am hung up way too much on the 1970′s and 1980′s, and feel that I am overlooking all the quality music that came out of the 90′s, I shall relent and dig way back into the vault for some Music Gold from 1990….where I give you the great Candy Dulfer!
As far as Beautiful Female Dutch Saxophone players go, Candy Dulfer is right at the top of my list of favorites!
You might not have heard of her, but millions of Smooth Jazz fans around the world know who she is.
Candy Dulfer is indeed a Dutch Saxophone musician, born in Amsterdam in 1969.
She has released 10 Studio Albums since her debut in 1990.
In 1990, she was doing session work with Eurythmics Guitarist and Producer Dave Stewart when he asked her to play on a single he was recording.
The result is “Lily was Here“, a song that Stewart and Dulfer took to #11 on the Billboard Top-40 Charts in 1990. (If Stewart had not been in the video…It would have made #1 for sure….)
She was nominated for a Grammy Award for her debut album “Saxuality“.
She is indeed the Queen of the One-Hit Wonder Female Sax Musician Hall of Fame.
Her music is still popular on Jazz Stations here in the US and around the Globe.
