Lipps Inc was a studio band that makes the One-Hit Wonder Hall of Fame due to the massive hit “FunkyTown” which hit #1 on the Billboard Charts in 1980.
Being released in 1980, it is considered one of the last great Disco songs before that era ended with the onslaught of British New Wave music, which engulfed the globe, and brainwashed society starting in the early 1980′s.
The groups name is pronounced just like “Lip Synch“. (hmmmmmmmmm Did Lipps Inc change their name to Milli Vanilli in later years????……hmmmmmmm conspiracy theory alert)
In 1994, the Australian Group Pseudo Echo remade the song and it peaked at #6 on the Billboard Charts.
FunkyTown has been featured in tons of movies, commercials, and television shows including The Simpsons, Futurama, South Park, Malcolm in the Middle, Friends, Shrek 2, and others.
Lipps Inc released 5 Albums in their career but never had another top-40 hit after FunkyTown.
