The Brothers Johnson is an American R&B/Funk/Soul Duo comprised of brothers George “Lightning Licks” Johnson, and Louis “Thunder Thumbs” Johnson.
The Duo enjoyed some moderate success on the charts during the 1970′s and early 1980′s.
I liked their music clear back when I was in Junior High School and still like it today. There is nothing better than sitting in the pick-up line at my son’s school, with Country Music blaring from all the cars idling around me, as I have “Strawberry Letter #23” cranked up to the max, causing all the bewildered southern Housewives to stare at me wondering how a middle-aged white guy in Texas would be blasting out to 70′s Funk…..
Their hits include:
I’ll be good to You
Stomp
Strawberry Letter #23
Get the Funk out ma Face
The Duo has released 8 Studio Albums during their career.
The groups top single was “I’ll be good to you” which peaked at #3 on the Billboard Top-40 Charts in 1976.
The group has charted 11 Top-40 singles onto the Billboard R&B Charts in their career.
Louis Johnson played Bass on Michael Jackson’s Thriller Album.
The Duo is still together and still do occasional performances.
