A Taste of Honey was an American Disco/Pop group that was active during much of the 1970′s and early 1980′s.
The group was first formed in 1971 in Los Angeles, Ca.
The band consisted of:
Janice Marie Johnson – Vocals, Bass
Carlita Dorhan – Vocals, Guitar
Perry Kibble – Keyboards
Donald Ray Johnson – Drums
The groups debut single “Boogie Oogie Oogie” reached #1 on the Billboard Charts in 1978.
The song has long been considered one of the great songs of the Disco Era of Music.
The group had one other Top-40 hit with the 1981 single “Sukiyaki” which reached #3 on the Billboard Charts.
The group released a total of 4 Studio Albums, the last of which was released in 1982.
The group won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1978.
The group broke up in 1982.
Janice Marie Johnson, who is Native American, was inducted into the Native American Music Association Hall of Fame in 2008.
