Chris Rea is a British Singer/Songwriter and Guitarist.
He released his first album in 1978. That album spawned his first hit in the US, “Fool If You Think It’s Over“, which peaked at #12 on the Billboard Top-40 Charts.
The song was nominated for a Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1978.
It would be his only hit to crack the Billboard Top-40 here in the US.
In his native England, he has charted 12 singles onto the British Top-40 Charts.
To date, he has released 22 Studio Albums and 2 Live Albums.
Many of his hits managed to chart into the Billboard Rock Charts and Adult Contemporary Charts here in the US. Those singles include:
Texas
The Road to Hell
Workin on It
On the Beach
Diamonds
The single “Texas” is played in the ballpark before every Texas Rangers home game.
I really discovered Chris Rea when I lived in England in the 1980′s. I had heard “Fool if you Think It’s Over” back when I was a kid and had always liked the song. When I lived in England, he was frequently charting hits on the British Charts and I really came to appreciate his music. He is one of my favorite artists that 90% of people here in the US have probably never heard of.
He is still active and plans on releasing a new Album in 2010.
