British New Wave Band After the Fire is a 1980′s One-Hit Wonder thanks to the 1982 single “Der Kommissar” which peaked at #5 on the Billboard Top-40 Charts.
The song was an English-Language version of a hit originally recorded by Austrian Pop Singer Falco of “Rock Me Amadeus” fame.
“Der Kommissar” did NOT crack the Top-40 on the British Charts.
The video received heavy airplay on MTV.
Loosely translated, “Der Kommissar” references a high-ranking person such as a Police Commissioner.
