love Bananarama
used to be on the top 10 radio hits when i was a teen
Perhaps is was the advent of this group (I use the term loosely) more than any other that finally shattered my faith in music as an art form with any integrity. For a bunch of ex-BBC typists to outsell The Supremes and become the biggest grossing girl group of all time was bad enough, but to do it with such unmitigated tosh as this was frankly the final nail in the coffin. Then , just as we though it couldn’t get any worse, we were aurally assaulted by the likes of Westlife and Boyzone (I’m actually gagging here) foisted upon us by the taste-deprived Irishman Louis Walsh,(single-handedly undoing all the good work Thin Lizzy, U2 and Van Morrison had done) and then , like a bad nightmare you can’t wake up from we are ruled by the televisual and musical dictatorship of Simon Cowell. It almost makes Bananarama look like they have some integrity. Almost.
My absolute favorite Bananarama song
