I miss Disco, MTV actually showing videos, Vinyl Albums and Cassettes, Actual DJ’s on the Radio, Not having to worry about where I left the damn cell phone, snail mail, non-surgically altered women in Playboy, only having 1 phone bill, Drive-in movies, no 24hrs a day of Television news, newspapers, TV LAND actually showing classic Television, Saturday Morning Cartoons, walking home from school without fear of being kidnapped, College football without the BS of the BCS, Saturday Night Live back when it was good, John Belushi and John Candy, Classic Rock, Kasey Kasem doing to the Top-40 countdown, cheap airfares on half-empty planes, being able to wear brown shoes with white pants, no cell phones, texting, email, spam, actually having human operators at the phone company, Johnny Carson, Elvis, bell-bottom pants, pet rocks, slinky’s, no Tattoo’s on women (at least visible ones), gas that was under $1.00 a gallon, full-service gas stations, Farrah Hair, Icee’s in K-Mart, Slurpee’s at the 7-11……….
I could go on for hours.
I miss the 70′s and 80′s!!! Technology and advancement is great for some……me…..I wanna go back!
I am nearly 45yrs old, married, am the proud father of three, and am still stuck in the 1970′s and 1980′s. Whether it be music, television, movies, politics, or just about anything else, life seemed a lot simpler and more fun back in those good ol days…. This blog exists only to keep those memories fresh in my mind before the sadistic ravages of old age and dementia start eroding my idiotic brain. As you will be able to quickly tell, I have a fondness for all kinds of Music, Movies, Beautiful Ladies, and Television shows of those great decades.
Subjects are not added to this blog based on any type of priority, just merely based on their happening to wander through my idiot mind at any given moment.
I AM ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW POST IDEAS….FEEL FREE TO LEAVE ME A COMMENT WITH YOUR REQUEST AND I WILL SEE ABOUT POSTING ON YOUR SUBJECT AS QUICK AS I CAN.
You will notice in the musical department, I tend to like a lot obscure singers and bands from the 1970′s and 1980′s. I like the little guy! Everyone already knows everything about all the big name artists from that period but many of the little people tend to fall through the cracks and get forgotten with time. For most of them, this is a good thing. Maybe you will see some of the artists I proile on here and you will remember their long forgotten hits for the first time in decades. Many of you will look at them and remark “I hated them when I was a teenager and I hate them now!” I’m just happy I can bring that bad memory back into your life if even for just a brief moment……
Also, I spent a good chunk of the 1980′s stationed in England while I was in the Air Force, so I do profile a lot of music that was popular over there….but that might not have been as popular here in the States.

You people younger than that will feel like you have wandered back into your Grandparents musty old house….
This blog is constantly under construction so check back often! Thanks for visiting!
Just wanted to let you know that I added you to my blogroll since we are both posting on a similar topic.
check it out – http://www.iamdazedandconfused.com
Thanks! I really appreciate it. I am still working to get this blog on its legs to go along with the 2 others I have. http://www.redriverpak.wordpress.com (my rambles) and http://www.redriverautographs.wordpress.com (autograph collecting hobby) Have linked to your site on this blog and will put links on my other blogs as well. Have a good 70′s day! Now, crank up the KC and the Sunshine Band!
I’m 19 yrs old and I’m from India and I love your blog. My generation tends to overlook the gems of the 70s and 80s. Because of my parents, who are great fans of the classics, movies and music, I’ve become a great fan of it all and detest a lot of the recent stuff. So although I didn’t exist in the 70s and 80s, I absolutely adore everything left to us from that period of time. I’m glad I came across it and I’m not going to stop until I’ve read everything you’ve written. Way to go!
Thank You Natasha! I hope you enjoy the site. Have a great day and check back often, I try to add new posts as often as I can. Thanks again!
You should add The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Dirty Dancing and Kermit the frog to your lists, if you were a fan!
Natasha, I had everyone but good old Kermit on my list. Will get them on the blog soon. I gotta long list of posts and just kind of pick random ones off the list to do on any given day. Have a great day and thanks for the input!

I’m going to have to add you to my blogroll! Granted, I’m not in the same genre of blogs, but I AM 44 and your blog has brought so many flashbacks that I’m nearly giddy with delight! THANK YOU! (I miss them too!)
Welcome! It is great to hear that I am not the only one that misses OUR ERA! Everything was so much better back then, especially the music and tv! Let me know if their are any songs or artists you would like added. I am always looking for new ideas. Have a great day!
I’m almost 40 so I’m totally at home here
This site is an awesome way to escape current reality for a while and go back to my hedonistic youth. Isn’t it funny that after all these years Discoo still sucks? (no rebuttals, please. It was just a joke-not!)
Besides a few exceptions (Pat Benatar, Debbie Harry, Wilson sisters, etc)it is hard to believe all of that wonderful music came out of such ordinary looking people. Jukebox Heroes Forever!
I used to be very pleased to find this web-site.I wished to thanks in your time for this glorious read!! I definitely enjoying every little bit of it and I have you bookmarked to check out new stuff you weblog post.
Hi, I have just discovered your site and Im really impressed. Im 53 ( just) and going through one of my regular nostalgia trips. My interest was drawn when i watched a rerun of Top of The Pops ( Im English) and saw Andrea True performing More More More, I remember the song well but this is the first time I had really clocked the lyrics and seen her perform ( I was so naive back then) and wow , how did she get away with it, and what a life she must have had, as you say why isn’t there at least a documentary!? keep up the good work, none of us are getting younger and what’s wrong with pretending to be a teenager now and again – Paul Pennycook
Ok heres on that you may never have heard of ‘ Its a Beautiful Day’ remember the song ‘White Bird’? well believe it or not they are still going, and Im cycling with my mates in a little english place called Hebden Bridge in a couple of weeks, and they are playing that weekend, they will all be in their 60s / 70′s but it should be fun and nostalgic!
Lucky you, to be in the vicinity of Hebden Bridge (avoid the chippy there though at all costs; it’s vile!). I recently got told to leave England by the Home Office (made a huge mistake in my work permit-seeking adventure and was not approved for a visa), but it’s the country I was meant to be in.
Anyways, have old friends in HB, Lorna Tennent and her partner Penny. (No, I don’t expect you to know them ; }).
Okay, so I had NO idea that you had this blog too…I’ve been over to The Idiot Speaketh many times though. But I was searching for some pictures of the Ghostbusters gang and came across your site. I’m doing some heavy duty research for a Halloween costume (shhh! Don’t tell anyone!). This is awesome! Your artist listing is like a soundtrack to my life…
Anybody looking for those artists and movies you thought no-one remembers but you…then you need to bookmark this site/blog…Fantastic 70′s-80′s catalog! I have and will continue to have a great time here! Thank you for taking the time to create it!
Glad to see you covered Quarterflash. Obscure, but very 80s.
In the same vein, you need to do something on The Waitresses. Their big hit was “I Know What Boys Like,” but they also did the theme for the short-lived TV show “Square Pegs.” (Starring a young Sarah Jessica Parker.) And every December you can’t help but hear their “Christmas Wrapping” song.
There are several sites that preserve The Waitresses history. And if you look around, you can download unreleased tracks.
I’m stuck in the ’70s and ’80s myself, to a rather significant degree. Nothing else compares to that time, my growing up years. Is there anyway I can subscribe?? I could read your posts for hours!
I posted the above comment. Check out my blog, if you like! You might see a post or two you like…
You have GOT to add Thin Lizzy to your ‘back catalog’. Someone with your sensitivities and yet they are not listed: a crime against yourself, man! Thanks for your marvelous site. (I’m 36 years old, and everything you say is spot on). Rebecca
Rebecca – If you happen to read this, I have switched over many of my flashbacks, including many new ones, to my primary blog at http://www.redriverpak.wordpress.com
Canidiot,
Thanks so much: bloggers almost never reply to me! Aren’t you bloomin’ lucky to be a Canadian as far as health care is concerned (and I could say more about how wretched it is in Capitalistville, as I’ve spent half my life or more trying live in Britain or France, but then I’d be digressing).
If I were any more in agreement with most of your nostalgia and assessments of modern North America, I’d, er, BE YOU.
When I’m up in the middle of the night I often turn on ‘Family Ties’ (on yet another American network, this one called ‘The Hub’) because Michael J. Fox was officially my first crush. I melted every time he said ‘sorry’ with a Vancouver accent; my dad teased me and called him ‘Jerome’.
Now I command thee: in future I want to get PROOF that you’ve listed to some ‘Thin Lizzy’ tracks and LOVED THEM from seeing you post a blog entry to that effect ; }.
Cheers,
Rebecca
(Oh, and some of us might want ‘Family Ties’ to appear on your list too. But then: it’s YOUR list; it ain’t mine! Forgot that).
